What is BodyworksMD?

BodyworksMD is informational site that active individuals can learn about musculoskeletal injuries and their treatments including the use of physician guided instructional videos to help guide them through a rehabilitation process.


Why would I choose BodyworksMD and not just go to a physical therapist?

Nothing can replace the clinical skills of a physical therapist but when schedules are tight, family commitments are overwhelming and insurance benefits run out, bodyworksMD provides instruction and easy to follow 20-30 minute rehabilitation routines that you can do anytime and anywhere you can watch a DVD.


I am not an athlete. Can I still use BodyworksMD?

Absolutely. Each DVD has at least 3 separate levels of therapy starting with beginner exercises intended for most acute injuries and moving to more advanced levels intended on progressive rehabilitation but also on performance enhancement and further injury prevention


I did the exercises online but want more. How do I get more?

The exercise routines that you did online are but a small sampling of exercises that are grouped together to form full length rehabilitation programs that are available for purchase based on body part: Knee/Ankle/Hip/Lower back/and Shoulder.


Will you have more DVDs for different body parts in the future?

Absolutely BodyworksMD will continue to develop new content in the form of new routines for other body parts.


I don’t have an injury but would like to strengthen by back. Is BodyworksMD right for me?

Like all of the DVDs there is at least one level of exercise that is intended for strengthening.


Will BodyworksMD help my overall flexibility?

All exercise routines from the easiest to harder levels include multiple flexibility exercises to help improve range of motion and subsequent overall function.


How long is each DVD each program?

Each DVD contains at least 3 separate rehabilitation programs based on level of therapy (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) each rehabilitation routine is about 20-25 minutes including warm up.


How often do I do the exercises?

We recommend that you do the appropriate program 3-4 times a week. You should take a day off after each time you do a program. Rehabilitation exercises should be to be done without pain and muscular fatigue.


What level do I start with?

We recommend that you start with the lowest level unless advised by a healthcare professional.


How do I know when to advance to the next level?

As you complete a level and feel that there is no pain and are able to perform all exercises as instructed, you may advance to the next level. Please review the technique sections prior to advancing.


What happens if I have pain with the exercises?

Please stop what you are doing, review the technique, drop to a lower level if possible, and decrease resistance or number of repetitions. You may want to consult with your physician if the above suggestions to alleviate the discomfort.


Do I need equipment for the exercises in the DVD?

For certain exercises you may need a hand or ankle weights, or resistance bands. These can be purchased at most sporting good stores. Household objects including a can of soup can be substituted for a hand weight.


How do I know which weight is appropriate?

Choose a weight that you are able to complete each set of repetitions with out pain or fatigue. As you get stronger you may advance the weight as tolerated.


How do I know which band is appropriate?

Choose a band that you are able to complete each set of repetitions with out pain or fatigue. As you get stronger you may advance the band as tolerated. Bands are color coded as to their resistance. The lighter the color the easier the band, the darker the color the more resistance. Please start with a light color band.


Do I need special footwear?

As with any exercises program, appropriate shoe wear like sneakers should be worn. Some exercises in the ankle rehabilitation program will require bare feet.
